This program aimed to develop a community-based model of wheelchair maintenance services operated by persons with disabilities across 10 service sites.
Findings: The program successfully enhanced the skills of disabled technicians and expanded community access to repair services. Key challenges included service standardisation, resource constraints, and weak financing mechanisms.
Recommendations: expand the service model using a hub-and-satellite approach, strengthen DPO-led organisations, develop strategic service documentation, and advocate for regulatory support to sustain inclusive service models.
