Assessment – Sustainability Pathways of Kinesio Therapy in Indonesia

February – April 2019

Jakarta, Cibinong, Cirebon, Purwodadi, Yogyakarta

This assessment aimed to design a sustainability strategy for Kinesio Therapy services—a community health service model addressing musculoskeletal pain, especially among underserved populations.

Findings: The program had served over 5,000 clients with more than 17,000 therapy sessions and trained over 100 practitioners nationwide. Challenges included a lack of regulatory recognition, long-term financing, and service standardisation.

Recommendations: strengthen the professional association (Perki), establish service standards and codes of ethics, develop cost-efficient training systems, and advocate with the Ministry of Health and local governments for formal recognition and service expansion.

Client:

PMC-BTCH, YAKKUM Rehabilitation Center
